ECOHYDROLOGY — Land, Water, Life
Our research focuses on
Water Resource Development, Nutrient Management, Groundwater Dependent Ecosystems,
Environmental Acidity and Understanding Climate Variability. More»
|
Water Resource problems are occurring all around the world. See some of the other centres we work with to develop solutions
to our common problems. More»
|
We offer practical advice to land managers via the web, on CD and by consultation. We regularly
attend field days to take our findings to the public. We are directly available to students at UWA. More»

Making Money From Mallees
A new tool to help land managers assess the value of carbon held by trees on farms and
forests is being launched on December 1 by the Department of Food and Agriculture, WA.
Focussing on mallees, the Farm Forestry Toolbox uses the latest growth modelling
software backed up by up to date mallee growth research to give the most accurate predictions
available on how fast a tree will grow, and what it is worth depending on where you plant it.
The Toolbox also includes a range of complementary tools to help manage tree plantings such
as a simple GIS mapping option. more»

Prof. André Läuchli from the University of California (Davis) is visiting the
Centre for Ecohydrology for three months, supported by the DAFWA Visiting Specialist Program.
André obtained his PhD from the University of Basel, Switzerland, and has been a
Professor at UC Davis for 30 years.
André has vast experience and knowledge of salt and boron tolerance in a range
of crops. He has practical knowledge of improving productivity in saline farming systems
via work with USDA in the Central Valley of California.
