Associate Professor Neil Coles
Neil Coles BSc Grad Dip Comp. e MBA. PhD
Project Director
Dr Coles graduated from James Cook University iun 1986, with a BSc in Geology and Hydrology, and completed a PhD in Catchment Hydrology at University of Western Australia in 1993. He recently completed an executive MBA (2008) through the Melbourne Business School, University of Melbourne. For the last 10 years he has been a Senior Research Scientist with the Department of Agriculture and Food WA.
Dr Coles has over twenty years of research, teaching and practical experience in the agricultural, water resources and mining industry in the UK, Queensland and Western Australia. He was elected as Chairman of the State Hydrology and Water Resources Panel for 2009, and is a Member of the Advisory Committee for the Purity of Water and serves on a number of other government panels and industry advisory boards. Dr Neil Coles was recently appointed as the Project Director of the Centre of Excellence for Eco-hydrology, University of Western Australia (UWA) and is now focused on the initiation and development of new projects and research links at the Centre.
The Centre is a collaborative research program that links researchers from UWA, The Department of Agriculture and Food, Edith Cowan University, Water Corporation, Department of Environment and Conservation and other industry partners. Research in the Centre will encompass: (i) catchment to local -scale studies including modelling and climate variability analysis; (ii) integration of land and water management; (iii) resource condition monitoring and evaluation; (iv) development and application of industry best practice to enhance biodiversity, water resources and industry productivity. | |
